Buffalo man arrested after crashing into Fillmore home

A Theodore Street man is facing charges after a bizarre early-morning crime spree Friday that ended with one man shot in the foot, a Buffalo Police officer nearly struck by a car and a crash into a house at Genesee Street and Eller Avenue, according to Buffalo police reports.

Merrell K. Taylor, 23, is charged with felony criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawfully fleeing a police officer.

Buffalo police responded to a shots fired call at Genesee and Eller about 3:40 a.m. and found a Buick fleeing the scene at about 65 mph. Taylor is accused of swerving at a Buffalo police officer and nearly hitting him at Fillmore and East Delavan avenues before striking a fence, house and porch nearby.

Taylor was allegedly found with three vials of marijuana at the scene. Police also found a loaded revolver outside of the passenger side door. A passenger in the vehicle driven by Taylor suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his right foot, police reported.
