Amherst woman cops plea in Kmart jewelry theft

LOCKPORT – One of three Erie County residents charged in the theft of more than $2,500 worth of jewelry at the Town of Niagara Kmart store took a plea deal Friday.

Christina M. Allein, 32, of Tonawanda Creek Road, Amherst, was allowed to plead guilty to petit larceny, a misdemeanor, because of her “continued cooperation” against the co-defendants, Assistant District Attorney Kevin D. Canali said.

Last week, another prosecutor told Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas that Allein had testified before a grand jury against Corrine M. Colby, 30, of Tonawanda Street, Buffalo, and Lonnie A. Horton, 43, of Wenro Place, West Seneca.

They are charged with felony counts of fourth-degree grand larceny in the Dec. 23 shoplifting attempt. All the jewelry was recovered.
