Airport should offer more nonstop flights
Kudos to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority for doing a tremendous job on its continued makeover at Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The newer restaurants and shops and improved aesthetics have helped make the airport much more appealing and convenient to travelers in and out of the Buffalo Niagara region.
Packed flights and a busy terminal are great signs for Buffalo, showing how successful the NFTA has been at marketing the airport. A job well done clearly deserves recognition, and with more upgrades on the way, the airport will continue to become even more successful.
The only disappointment, though, is the inability to acquire more nonstop flights to major cities from Buffalo. Despite the growth at the airport, we have no nonstop flights to major domestic hub airports in Los Angeles, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco and Houston. The NFTA should now step up to help land nonstop flights to these airports. More convenient travel to and from these cities would be a huge boost for business travel between Buffalo and these markets, and would make leisure travel to Buffalo much more popular and marketable. As our region continues its long-awaited revival, it would be great if it was easier for people to get here to see it!
