NIAGARA FALLS – Damage was called extensive after a joyride over the weekend that ended with a pickup crashed into a ditch at a construction site at 3000 Ninth St., police said. Tools, brass fittings and copper pipes also were stolen, police added.

Work crews Monday morning found the site littered with broken glass, a window shattered, a lock on an office door broken and more than 200 feet of copper stripped from the side of a building, police said.

Graffiti also was also found on a floor and in an office area. Also, electrical wiring was cut and bulk toilet paper, towels, painting materials and glass lighting globes were stolen – some of them shattered.

Other damage included a door kicked in at a nearby garage and the rear window of pickup shattered. The pickup used for the joyride was found in a ditch, with two tires flattened, police said.

The loss was estimated at $8,860.
