Harter Secrest & Emery partner Carol E. Heckman was recently named a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America trial lawyers honorary society. Fellows are selected and invited into fellowship after being evaluated on effectiveness and accomplishment in litigation and trial work, along with ethical reputation. Membership is limited to 3,500.


The Credit Union Association of New York re-elected Marie Betti, chief executive officer of the Western New York Federal Credit Union, for a third term as the director/treasurer in the asset category of $25 million to $100 million. Betti has served on the association board of directors for the past seven years, representing credit unions with assets of $25 million to $100 million in New York State. She also serves as president of the Erie Niagara Chapter.

Compeer of Greater Buffalo received a $4,000 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York to help fund the purchase of a smartboard, computer and projector for Compeer’s Operation Family Caregiver Program. The program provides services to spouses, children and caregivers of veterans who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injuries and/or physical disabilities.
