Metro Rail service downtown suspended for weekend

Metro Rail service on the surface section of Main Street will be suspended from Friday through Sunday as crews relocate overhead catenary poles near Fountain Plaza, according to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority.

Commuters will be served by buses from the Allen-Medical Campus Station to Erie Canal Harbor Station during the construction period, operating in each direction approximately every 15 minutes.

Buses will shuttle inbound passengers to various stops via Pearl Street; outbound passengers will be picked up and let off along Washington Street – one block east of outbound stations.

Underground service will remain in operation throughout the project, and the full length of the rail line will reopen Monday morning.
