CASTILE – The fundraising campaign to build a Nature Center in Letchworth State Park has reached the $1 million mark, organizers report. They hope to raise an additional $600,000 by the end of the year.

Total cost of the Nature Center, a 5,000-square-foot, year-round facility near Trailside Lodge south of the Castile entrance to the park, is estimated at $4.8 million. The campaign’s $1.6 million is expected to be matched by $3.2 million in state funds.

Groundbreaking is tentatively set for next spring, with an opening in spring 2016. Donations can be made online at www.letchworthnaturecenter.org.
