Chautauqua County starts website for Start-Up NY there

Chautauqua County residents and business owners interested in learning more about Start-Up NY can now visit a one-stop website with information about the initiative as it pertains to the county.

The website, which can be accessed through the County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency page (, provides links to available properties that qualify for Start-Up NY benefits, a frequently asked questions page and information on developing and submitting an application.

It will also provide updated news and notes about the program.

Businesses that wish to be a part of Start-Up NY must first be approved and sponsored by a host college. SUNY Fredonia serves as host for the northern portion of the county while Jamestown Community College represents the southern region.

Start-Up NY is a program created by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo that is designed to attract businesses to areas surrounding college campuses by providing them with large tax incentives.

Approved businesses will be granted 10 years of state tax benefits while new employees of those businesses will be exempt from state income taxes while in the program.
