OLEAN – Social media helped State Police arrest a Cuba, N.Y., woman following a hit-and-run accident July 7 in Olean.

Tiffany Armstrong, 31, allegedly hit a horse and buggy, injuring the horse and passengers, and took off. Police said all who were injured are recovering.

State Police sent out a press release and posted on Twitter and Facebook. A Facebook follower called in a tip, which helped police locate Armstrong’s vehicle.

The caller said he saw the vehicle heading north on State Route 16 just after the accident.

Armstrong faces multiple vehicle and traffic violations, including aggravated unlicensed operation, leaving the scene of an injury accident and leaving the scene of an accident involving an accident.
