Cocaine dealer pleads guilty in North Tonawanda case

LOCKPORT – A man who sold cocaine in North Tonawanda Aug. 28 pleaded guilty Monday and was admitted to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

Lazarus R. Hayes, 25, of Pierce Avenue, Niagara Falls, risks a maximum nine-year prison sentence for third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance if he fails in the treatment program.

Also Monday, Farkas gave a one-year conditional discharge to a man who beat an addiction to heroin and painkillers in the diversion program.

Anthony A. Zaccarella, 62, of Maple Avenue, Niagara Falls, risked a nine-year prison term with his January 2013 guilty plea. With his success in the program, his charge was cut to a misdemeanor two months ago.
