An Orleans County woman was in serious condition after losing control of her vehicle early this morning in the Town of Gaines.
Felicia A. Gaddis, 45, of Waterport was driving at about 2 a.m. on Gaines-Waterport Road when she lost control of her 2000 Buick sedan. The vehicle crossed the center line and ran off the roadway before hitting a utility pole.
Gaddis was ejected from her sedan as it turned over; it stopped on its side. She was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Mercy Flight. As of Sunday at 3 p.m., Gaddis remained in serious condition in ECMC’s Trauma Unit.
The County of Orleans Sheriff’s Office said alcohol and excessive speed both seem to have been involved in the accident. Charges are pending.
Gaddis’ collision with a utility pole snapped the pole in half, which led to downed power lines.
