JAMESTOWN – The 6-month-old boy allegedly assaulted by his father remained in critical condition in Women and Children’s Hospital,Jamestown police said.

Steven A. Spencer, 20, of Jamestown was charged Friday with second-degree assault and reckless assault of a child, both felonies. He was arraigned Saturday morning and was being held in Chautauqua County Jail, according to police.

Investigators said Spencer shook and struck the baby with an object at the child’s home on Hedges Street.
