A Ransomville man who was picked up for drunken driving Wednesday night faced additional charges Thursday morning after his employer learned that he had been driving a work truck when he was stopped.
William E. Dodds, 46, of Youngstown-Wilson Road, had been charged by state police with driving while intoxicated at 11:53 p.m. Wednesday at Witmer Road and the Niagara Expressway in the Town of Niagara.
He was subsequently charged Thursday morning by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies with unauthorized used of a motor vehicle.
His employer in Ransomville told deputies that Dodds was supposed to pick up some tractor parts in Newfane and bring the truck back by 8 p.m., but never returned. The employer learned of the arrest on a mobile website and contacted the Niagara County Sheriff Department to pursue additional charges.
