Sean P. Keenan has been arrested in the murder of his father, John P. Keenan, 70, of Orchard Park, police said today.
Orchard park police were called 9:30 a.m. Monday to check on John Keenan’s welfare and found him dead in the house at 2 Hillsboro Drive in Orchard Park.
Sean was later taken into custody. He was arraigned Monday night in Orchard Park and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center.
Police Chief Mark Pacholec did not disclose how John Keenan was killed, saying the investigation is still going on.
Residents of the house include the father and son and the father’s wife, who is out of state, caring for an ill family member. Police would not release her name.
“She’s having a hard enough time dealing with this,” the chief said in refusing to give the name.
Police said they have been to the residence in the past but would not disclose the nature of previous visits.
The chief said that Sean Keenan does not have a previous arrest record.
Police released a mugshot of Sean, who is smiling and appears to have marks all over his face.
Asked how Sean came to have those marks on his face, Pacholec said: “I dealt with him once in the past, and he did not look like that."
“He was taken into custody initially without incident," the chief said.
Sean is scheduled to return to Orchard Park Town Court at 4 p.m. Friday
State police also were involved in the investigation.
County real estate records indicate the 3,853-square-foot home is owned by John P. Keenan. According to real estate websites, the home is currently listed for sale.
