Jason Aldean brings country sounds to Darien Lake

There was a time when the main reason to ride to Darien Lake would be for a harrowing afternoon on the Viper or Predator roller coasters. Now, it seems that both twisting terrors have been replaced by a roll call of Coors Light-toting country acts as the park’s main draw. Brad Paisley just packed in crowds last week. Keith Urban and Blake Shelton are due later this summer.

Next up: Jason Aldean, who brings his “Burn It Down” tour to the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center on Saturday.

Still touring off his fifth studio album – the 2012 smash “Night Train” – the country rocker boasts more than 8 million in record sales and 13 No. 1 hits, with tunes like “Dirt Road Anthem,” “The Only Way I Know” (with Luke Bryan and Eric Church), and the crossover offering “Don’t You Wanna Stay” (with Kelly Clarkson). Such platinum-selling radio hits always draw crowds, but Aldean’s history of high-intensity, genre-pushing live performances have combined for a sold-out show at Darien Lake.

And with Twitter ablaze with news of a forthcoming single and new album in September, the night should be almost as exciting as those past roller coaster rides. Almost.
