KIANTONE — A 19-year-old Frewsburg man fell asleep behind the wheel Saturday morning before his vehicle drifted off the road and struck several objects, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At about 5:30 a.m., Alexander Dimpfl’s southbound vehicle left the east side of Foote Avenue Extension and struck a stop sign, several small trees and a retaining wall.

Dimpfl was transported to WCA Hospital in Jamestown for treatment, and transferred this morning to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Erie, Pa., where he was in fair condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
