2 clerks charged with illegal sale of beer

LOCKPORT – Two clerks at gas station convenience stores were arrested Sunday afternoon as Niagara County sheriff’s deputies, state police and State Liquor Authority agents checked on beer sales to underage customers throughout Niagara County.

Charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibited sales were Clyde D. Busch, 50, of Medina, an employee of Stop-N-Gas, 4004 Lake Ave., Town of Lockport; and Miranda L. Newman, 17, of Wilson, an employee of the Gulf station, 820 Center St., Lewiston.

Busch is due in Lockport Town Court on Thursday. Newman is to appear in Lewiston Town Court on July 22. The underage sales enforcement effort sent underage purchasers into 17 stores, with 15 of them refusing alcohol sales, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said.
