ANTIQUE IRON – Classic cars aren’t the only attraction at the 39th annual Tri-Five Car Show, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Great Pumpkin Farm, next to Antique World, 11199 Main St., Clarence.

There also will be food, a beer tent, music, a flea market and a kids’ zone. Admission is $8 for adults, free for children 12 and under. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Association for Research of Childhood Cancer.


INTO THE PAST – Get a close-up look at history in Buffalo’s two Karpeles Manuscript Library Museums. Porter Hall, 453 Porter Ave., and North Hall, 220 North St., are open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday, except holidays. Admission is free.

Porter Hall’s latest exhibit, “Manifest Destiny: The Westward Expansion of the United States,” features 19th century maps that show the state of Franklin, which became North Carolina and Tennessee; and Idaho as a territory as big as Texas.

The new exhibit at North Hall, “Dictators and Military Strategists,” includes Cuban president Fidel Castro’s high school yearbook, revolutionary leader Che Guevara’s fingerprints and letters by former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. For info, call 885-4139 or visit


DRUMSTICK BEAT – St. Francis of Assisi Church, 4263 St. Francis Drive, Athol Springs, hosts its annual Chiavetta’s chicken dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 in advance, $11 at the door, for a half chicken, roll, salad, pop and a homemade dessert. Hot dog meals for kids are $3.

There also will be face-painting for kids and a special appearance by Saxman Slim from 1:30 to 3:30. For good measure, there’s a huge theme basket raffle and a duck pond raffle. Advance tickets are available in the parish office. For info, call 627-3357.
