Buffalo does a poor job maintaining bike paths
Mayor Byron Brown addressed the Ride for Roswell Peloton participants on Friday night at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, telling them how proud he was of the bicyclists and their fundraising efforts, the support of the community and of the magnificent accomplishments at Roswell Park.
Is he also proud that he and his administration have routinely denied any responsibility of maintenance of the disgraceful, overgrown, dangerous bike paths in his city? The 45-mile bike route on Saturday showcased beautiful parts of our city, which could have become very attractive to cyclists in Western New York. (It was quite apparent that he also divorced himself from the minefield that we so lovingly call LaSalle Park.)
As one cyclist mentioned, Buffalo is not only known for the invention of chicken wings, but also for “urban mountain biking.”
