Niagara-Wheatfield re-elects Sabo

SANBORN – The Niagara-Wheatfield School Board re-elected Steve Sabo as its president at the annual reorganization meeting Wednesday.

Sabo, who won a one-year term on the board in 2011 and then a three-year seat in 2012, has served as president since coming to the board.

Christopher Peters, who also was first elected in 2011 and then again this year, was appointed vice president, a post he has held in the past.

Also sworn in to three-year terms were newcomers Gina Terbot and Darren Sneed who were elected in May.

As part of the reorganization, the board appointed the law firms of Harris Beach and Personius Melber as school attorneys. According to the discussion, the district has at least $170,000 budgeted for legal fees this year.

In another matter, the board put off appointing a district financial auditor until the district receives proposals from firms. School Superintendent Lynn Fusco said by soliciting bids, the district may be able to obtain a less expensive rate or at least one that will not increase. Last year, the board hired Drescher Malecki Audit Services, it was noted.
