Buffalo Jills lawsuit moves forward

A judge has denied a request from the Buffalo Bills, Inc., to dismiss a lawsuit filed by five former Buffalo Jills cheerleaders against the Bills and two other corporate defendants, Citadel Broadcasting Co. and Stejon Productions Corp. The women state they were paid less than the minimum wage for their work.

State Supreme Court Justice Timothy J. Drury signed an order allowing the case to go forward despite arguments that the women were independent contractors and that the Bills were not their employer. Drury agreed that the Bills exercised control over the cheerleaders. He rejected a similar motion by Citadel to dismiss the lawsuit.
