Tone it down
The monochromatic look is so well suited to summer. From airy knits to breezy linens to lightweight textured blends, the look is cool and effortless.
If head-to-toe white makes you nervous, how about some soft neutrals? Think light earthy colors. We’re seeing ones with names such as pebble, flax, ecru, stone and wet stucco.

Show House search
The Junior League of Buffalo is looking for a home with historical and architectural value to be transformed into its 18th Decorators’ Show House next spring.
To be considered, the home must be located in the City of Buffalo (or within close proximity) and be at least 7,000 square feet with two staircases. It should also have a minimum of a two- to three-car garage, suitable yard space and off-street parking. The house will need to be vacant from Jan. 1 to June 1 so area decorators and craftsmen can work their magic. Show House will open to the public April 25 to May 17, 2015.
Anyone with a referral can call the Junior League Headquarters, 884-8865, or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The JLB, in conjunction with The Buffalo News, has raised more than $3.7 million to benefit the Western New York community through revenue generated by its Show House.
Designer Giorgio Armani has been talking trends for men – for next summer. One fashion must-have: A white bag.
“You cannot NOT have a white bag,” the designer told journalists after his Emporio Armani menswear show last Monday, the third day of the Milan Fashion Week Menswear Spring/Summer 2015 previews.
“Emporio’s white bags for next summer include backpacks and hand luggage, and they are counterpointed with versions in black and black-and-white geometric patterns,” wrote Colleen Barry, fashion writer for the Associated Press.
“Armani seems to be onto something. Gucci also featured a large white leather duffel bag – among an array of other colors. And U.S. department store menswear buyer, Kevin Harter of Bloomingdales, says another leather manufacturer this season was pushing white bags, saying ‘It will sell,’ ” she added.
Kat Collings, of www.who-whatwear.com, asks this: “Is there a sweeter moment then when someone inquires about the brand you’re wearing, and then responds with shock when you reveal the affordable source? Well yes, but it’s still quite the compliment to your discerning sensibilities and your flawless sense of taste.”
