LITTLE VALLEY – Limestone Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded $40,473 by the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

Limestone Fire Chief Mike Soper said the money will purchase turnout gear and a bailout system used by firefighters to escape safely from the upper floors of burning buildings. The grant was announced Wednesday by U.S. Sens. Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y.
