Former Jamestown Ramada to become Doubletree

A former Ramada hotel on West 4th Street in Jamestown will become a Doubletree by Hilton.

Hamister Group, which bought the hotel late last year and subsequently closed it, has signed a franchise agreement to redevelop the property under the high-end brand.

The fully renovated hotel will have 146 rooms, a restaurant and 4,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space.

Construction is expected to begin this fall with a summer 2015 opening.

Jamestown mayor Samuel Teresi said the $13 million project would “address the need for a high quality, full-service hotel” in its local market and hopes it will “help spur additional tourism and conference activity that has been lacking in recent years.”

Hamister Group owns and operates hotels and assisted living facilities in Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Tennessee and New York. It is currently building a Hilton Garden Inn downtown that is scheduled to open this fall, and is planning another for downtown Niagara Falls.
