Two hearings planned on changes to bus routes

Public hearings on proposals to discontinue one Metro bus service route and adjust another will be held today and Thursday.

The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority wants to replace the existing Route 57 Tonawandas with a fixed route flex pilot service to improve performance levels and discontinue Route 27 Wende due to historically low ridership.

Route 57 operates between Main & Niagara Transit Center and the Niagara Falls International Airport. Route 27 operates between the Buffalo Niagara International Airport and the Wende Correctional Facility.

Wednesday’s public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. in the Cheektowaga Central High School cafeteria, 3600 Union Road. Thursday’s hearing will be held at 5 p.m. in Council Chambers at North Tonawanda City Hall, 216 Payne Ave.
