Late-night gunfire Monday missed hitting two people walking home from a West Side store at the intersection of Breckenridge and Herkimer streets, according to Northwest District police.

The shooter fired three shots from a black handgun as he approached a Breckenridge resident and another person at about 11:45 p.m., police said.

Officers described the shooter as in his mid 20s, either black or Hispanic, with an orange pony tail, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing red checkered shorts and a white T-shirt. They said he fled the scene in a white sport utility vehicle with black trim on the sides.
