Where we live: Clarence

Food, fun and fireworks, the roadside signs proclaim along Harris Hill Road and all over Clarence. That’s the promise of Clarence Day in the Park, sponsored by the Clarence Lions Club Saturday in Clarence Town Park, 10405 Main St.

The fun starts at 9 a.m. with Clarence Girls Softball games and continues with rides from 2 to 7 p.m., a 180-foot zip line, kids games bounce houses and a Bark in the Park event for dog lovers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with contests, demonstrations and prizes.

The food includes barbecued chicken, pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, snow cones and ice cream, as well as a beer tent. Music includes a battle of the bands from 4 to 7 p.m. and the dance band Studio 54. As for the fireworks, they start at 9:45 p.m.

For the first time, the Day in the Park will be expanded to include a Preview Night from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday. The beer tent will be open, with country music by the West of the Mark band. Also open will be the I Got It tent and food vendors. For information, visit www.ClarenceDayInThePark.org.
