Horizon Health Services is the area’s largest provider of mental health and addiction counseling services. Last year, it served more than 10,000 people with counseling services and more than 275 people were seen at its treatment facility.

Horizon Health Services manages 18 outpatient treatment sites in Erie, Niagara and Genesee counties for mental health and chemical dependency treatment. It also runs Horizon Village, a 50-bed inpatient facility in Niagara County, and a new 25-bed veterans facility on the same property.

It offers individual and outpatient counseling to adolescents, young adults and adults.

The multicounty operation employs 339 people.

In the survey, employees praised the agency’s management style that allows them to make decisions, and its progressive approach to treatment.

“I am empowered, am able to be creative, have flexibility, have opportunities for growth and share those opportunities with those I supervise. I have had awesome mentors,” an employee wrote. “Amazing systems, teamwork, camaraderie, humor.”

The work is challenging, but rewarding, other workers noted.

“Every day is different. As a team, we are able to help those that are unable to help themselves. Combined, we make a difference in people’s lives.”

Others said Horizon Health Services has a positive work environment.
