The Evergreen Association of Western New York is a nonprofit, multi-agency service that offers health care services throughout Western New York. Its organizations include Evergreen Health Services; Benedict House of Western New York; Community Access Services of WNY; and Pride Center of WNY.

It was founded in 1983 and its health and related services were primarily aimed at local residents diagnosed with HIV and living with AIDS. But in recent years, it has come to serve individuals with a spectrum of conditions. Through its various agencies, its offerings include housing, pharmacy, transportation, mental health and substance abuse services.

Evergreen Association has three locations and 165 employees. Survey participants said supervisors are confident in their abilities, creating a self-directed work environment, and employees are proud of the impact the agency makes on the community.

“I have freedom to use my skills, knowledge, creativity, and abilities,” an employee wrote. “I feel that my supervisor trusts me, and even if I don’t have complete success with projects I’ve designed, he treats it as a learning opportunity, and is never punitive. It’s a beautiful thing.” Another wrote: “I always feel challenged … I know I am making a difference for consumers and the community.”
