Shots fired, robbery victim pistol-whipped at East Side intersection

Several shots were fired during a robbery at Broadway and Detroit Street shortly before 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Buffalo police said.

The victim, a resident of Cheektowaga, told officers two men asked him if he wanted drugs, then pulled out handguns and stole several items of jewelry. The victim told police he was pistol-whipped and the attackers fired their handguns. Police said they found five shell casings at the scene.
