Reward posted in shooting after Clarence rap music event

A reward of up to $1,000 was posted Sunday for information about a shooting incident that occurred around 4 a.m. Saturday, following a rap music event at Howdy’s bar, 8166 Main St. in Clarence.

Someone sitting in what police believe was a white Chevrolet Malibu began shooting in the Howdy’s parking lot, as people were leaving the music event, said Scott Zylka, executive assistant to Sheriff Timothy B. Howard. It appears that no one was hit by the gunfire.

Police said multiple shots were fired, which brought officers from Amherst, Cheektowaga and Lancaster, in addition to sheriff’s deputies, rushing to the scene.

The reward is offered by the not-for-profit Greater Buffalo Crime Stoppers program. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 867-6161, or visit the Erie County Sheriff’s Office web site and send a confidential email.

Howdy’s, formerly known as Club Infinity, is primarily known as a country music bar, but according to one police officer, the bar occasionally hosts rap music nights. The venue has a Williamsville mailing address and is close to the intersection of Main Street and Transit Road.
