The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County is entertaining project ideas for its Annual Day of Caring – the largest one-day volunteer event in Western New York, which enlists thousands of volunteers.

The 22nd annual Day of Caring will be held Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The United Way of Buffalo & Erie County organizes the event to offer manpower to non-profits – such as gardening, cleaning, delivering meals or assisting with field trips. The deadline for project submissions is June 30.

During last year’s Day of Caring, more than 3,100 volunteers from 137 companies assisted 120 nonprofit organizations. Wegmans, HSBC, National Grid and UAW/General Motors are sponsoring the event.
