Long-distance run to benefit Heritage Christian Services

LOCKPORT – Kelly Nash, a running coach and supporter of Heritage Christian Services, plans to run 100 kilometers along the Erie Canal Heritage Trail today to raise money and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the agency, which serves children and adults with developmental disabilities.

She will start at 6:30 a.m. at a home operated by HCS on East Avenue in Lockport and expects to arrive at the Pieters Family Life Center in Henrietta around 7:30 p.m.

Nash already has raised $1,000 for the agency through a web page at legacymileand5k.kintera.org, which is part of the Heritage Christian Legacy Mile and 5K, set for Sept. 6 in Brighton.

Heritage Christian Services supports more than 1,800 children and adults with disabilities in more than 70 neighborhood homes and 29 day programs.
