LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls 17-year-old was granted youthful offender status on two felonies Thursday, but still was given a prison sentence by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.

The Linwood Avenue youth was assigned to the state’s boot camp-style “shock incarceration” program for his guilty pleas to third-degree robbery and third-degree burglary. If he can’t succeed in that program, he will serve one to three years in a regular prison.

The teenager pleaded guilty to breaking into a Linwood Avenue home May 15, 2013, and taking part in the strongarm robbery of three men on Sept. 12 on Pierce Avenue.
