There are black-tie galas. There are casual fundraisers held in banquet halls. And then there is Hallwalls Contemporary Arts Center’s Artists and Models, the longest-established and most highly anticipated event on Buffalo’s crowded art party calendar and the venue’s largest fundraiser.
This year, the party takes place Saturday night in a downtown venue known as The Garage (151 E. Eagle St.), a short walk from the Hotel @ The Lafayette. As usual, it will feature a dizzying array of installations, projects and other activities from about 30 of Western New York’s most popular artists. The event also will feature an exhibition of dozens of GIF loops (those fun animations that occasionally pop up on your Facebook feed) curated by Toronto-based GIF artist Lorna Mills.
In addition to the art, local musicians ABCDJ, Josh Yourmoms, DJ Culter, DJ Lo Pro and the 12/8 Path Band will perform throughout the evening. As in past years, there will be a preparty from 7:30 to 9 p.m. for $50. After that, tickets are $20 at the door, or $15 for students or when purchased in advance.
