West Side Rowing in youth nationals

West Side Rowing placed fourth in their six-boat heat Friday in the Women’s Youth 4+ event at the USRowing Youth Nationals in Sacramento, Calif.

The Women’s Youth 4+ boat qualified for the national event by placing first among club teams and second overall at the New York State Scholastic Rowing Championships last month.

Members of this boat include Emily Radziwon (Orchard Park), Emily Evans (City Honors), Ashley Johnson (Clarence), Kendal Smith (Park) and coxswain Claire Conrad (Buffalo Seminary). Erika Lister (Sacred Heart) is traveling with the team as an alternate.

The boat advanced to Reps with Finals scheduled for Sunday.

Softball Championships today

Section VI will have three tams playing today at the New York State Softball Championships in Glens Falls.

In Class AA, Clarence (20-1) plays East Meadow (Section VIII) at 9 a.m. This is the sixth trip to the final four since 2000 for the Red Devils.

In Class A, Williamsville South (21-2) will face Troy (Section II) at 1:30 p.m. The Billies are on a 16-game winning streak.

Eden (16-1) will face Center Moriches (Section XI) at 11:30 a.m. This is the first trip to the final four for the Raiders.
