Jamestown girl, 16, injured in two-car collision

FREWSBURG – A 16-year-old Jamestown girl was taken to WCA Hospital in Jamestown for treatment of minor injuries suffered when an 18-year-old Frewsburg man reportedly fell asleep and struck her car at about 7:30 Friday at West Main Street and South Pearl Street in the Town of Carroll, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Cody Himes was driving east on West Main Street when he said he fell asleep and his vehicle went off the south side of the road, struck a flower planter and crashed into the car driven by Martina Rasmussen, which was stopped on South Pearl at the intersection. The collision knocked the Rasmussen vehicle into the building at the corner, causing minor damage to the building.

Rasmussen was taken by a Frewsburg fire crew to WCA for treatment of minor injuries, deputies said.

Neither Himes nor Kelsey Sheldon, 16, of Frewsburg, who was a passenger in the Rasmussen vehicle, was injured. No charges have been filed, but the crash remains under investigation.
