NIAGARA FALLS – A Falls man accused of hitting another man with a shovel and seriously injuring him was charged by police on Tuesday.

Darius L. Washington, 22, of Spruce Avenue was arraigned Wednesday in City Court on charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was held on $1,000 bail. A return court date was set for Monday.

Washington had allegedly demanded money from a Niagara Falls man on May 2 on Spruce Avenue. According to Police Lt. Trane said police were investigating a woman who may have lured the victim to the Spruce Avenue address.
