MAYVILLE – A 65-year-old Blasdell man was taken for mental tests after Chautauqua County sheriff deputies and U.S. Coast Guard officials took him into custody without incident because he allegedly made threats to shoot lawmen and government officials while he was on a boat in Chautauqua Lake west of the Barcelona Harbor in Westfield about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Officials said they received numerous distress calls about his alleged actions about 6:50 a.m. Sheriff’s office officials said various charges are being considered against the boater after he completes the mental evaluation work.
