FREDONIA – A family of three adults and two children was being helped by the Red Cross to find new temporary accommodations after their house trailer at 277 West Main Street was destroyed Monday in a late afternoon fire.

The fire, reported to the Fredonia Fire Department at 4:12 p.m. was under control by 4:52 p.m. with assistance of the Dunkirk Fire Department which had a crew on standby duty. The trailer was declared a total loss.

Initial investigation indicated the fire was started by a child playing with a cigarette lighter. No injuries were reported.
