Byron Brown endorses Schneiderman for re-election

ALBANY – Buffalo Mayor Byron W. Brown, a Democrat, has endorsed his fellow Democrat, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, in his first re-election bid.

Brown cited Scheiderman’s work to get approved the state’s I-STOP program, which seeks to make it harder for people addicted to prescription painkillers to doctor- and pharmacy-shop, as well as Schneiderman’s prosecution of drug rings in Western New York.

“Attorney General Schneiderman has been a true leader in making our neighborhoods safer,” Brown said in a written statement.

Schneiderman, a former state senator from Manhattan, was endorsed last week by Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster. Schneiderman is running against John Cahill, a Republican lawyer who was a top advisor during the administration of former Gov. George E. Pataki.
