High-waisted skirts, palazzo pants, jeans and shorts have made a comeback this spring, and the look can be quite casual (high-rise denim shorts from the Gap or American Eagle) or dressy (the outfit designed by Cynthia Rowley and worn by “Veep” actress Anna Chlumsky at the CFDA Awards in New York City on Monday night).
The look is often shown with some type of cropped top, some barely baring the midriff. The cropped top may have a longer lightweight piece layered over it.
Another style we are still seeing in many places: rompers (especially in the juniors’ department). Just one piece. It doesn’t get much easier than that.
Here is an idea from Real Simple: Have a single wall with no door or windows? Create a big impact without a big cost by hanging a bold, graphic wallpaper on it.
Hair and there
The June issue of More magazine pulls together from various publications quotations from women talking about their hair. Here are just two of them:
• From Jane Seymour: “People say women shouldn’t have long hair over a certain age, but I’ve never done what everyone says.”
• From Christie Brinkley: “I always say, the bigger the hair the smaller the hips.”
“We are currently shut out of our own home because of renovations. This was meant to be small, and we’re looking at a year and a half. You start out thinking, 'I guess we could change the color of this room,’ and next thing you know, you’re replacing windows.”
