Child & Family Services presented awards at its annual Celebration of Friends: The Buyers family, 2014 Susan T. Siwiec Distinguished Donor Award; Michael K. Walsh, 2014 John N. Walsh, Jr. Board Appreciation Award; Lisa Catanese and Shaun Fryling, 2014 William B. Hoyt Advocacy Award; Matthew Leboeuf, 2014 Stanley G. Daemen College was selected as the first recipient of the Business Supporter Award presented as part of the Town of Amherst Arts and Culture in Public Places board’s newly created program to celebrate contributions to the arts in the community. The honor was presented at the inaugural Amherst Awards for the Arts event held recently in MusicalFare Theatre on the college’s campus.


Sunnking Inc., an electronics recycling and data destruction company with facilities in Brockport and Buffalo, has successfully completed the updated R2/RIOS:2013 certification process. R2/RIOS is a combination of the responsible recycling practices and the recycling industry operating standard that establishes responsible recycling practices for the recycling of electronics globally.


Precision Process, Niagara Falls, was awarded a $9,942 federal contract for the relocation of fluid dispensing system from Building 700 to Building 827 from the U.S. Air Force Reserve Command, Niagara Falls.


Hilbert College, St. Bonaventure University, Erie Community College and Jamestown Community College have been approved for a $230,000 grant from the Teagle Foundation for the project “A New Structure for General Education.” The grant will be funded over three years. The collaborative proposal brings together four Western New York institutions for the purpose of revising general education requirements to help improve learning outcomes and processes for all students, including those who transfer between these institutions.
