Niagara Falls shooting suspect arrested day after incident

NIAGARA FALLS – A 24-year-old Niagara Falls man wanted for the shooting of another man in the city late Wednesday was arrested without incident when Niagara Falls police detectives and uniformed officers tracked him down Thursday in a Falls Street apartment. Javon Ellison of 18th Street, was being held on first-degree assault, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree menacing charges for allegedly shooting Jermaine Lowe, 23, in the abdomen at 11th Street and Ontario Avenue about 11;50 p.m. Wednesday.

Lowe was driven to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center by a friend right after the shooting but he was immediately taken by ambulance to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo. Det. Lt. Michael Trane of the Niagara Falls police said Lowe was listed in stable condition at the Buffalo hospital.

Ellison faces arraignment this morning in Niagara Falls City Court.
