Excursion to China is planned

BATAVIA – The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for its tenth excursion to China, a nine-day trip for tourists and businessmen.

The trips began in 2007 and took businessmen to the country where many of the products they sell are made. Tourists have since joined the travel with attendance ranging from 60 to 280. Businessmen and women can set up appointments with their Chinese counterparts.

In Beijing, China’s capital, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square and a side trip to the Great Wall are scheduled. There is also an opportunity to see the Army’s life-size Terra Cotta soldiers.

Economic development sites in Hangzhow and Shanghai are scheduled in memory of a Batavian developer, the late Joseph L. Mancuso who pioneered the incubator to help small start-up businesses. The concept was widely copied in China and visitors to a business park in Anshan pass a bronze bust of the Batavian.

The chamber is also planning a trip to Paris next year and to Spain and Portugal in 2016.
