Gordon H. Bald, former Marine staff sergeant and co-founder of Diversified Manufacturing of Lockport, died Monday in Briody Health Care Facility, Lockport. He was 84.
Mr. Bald was a graduate of Lockport High School, where he studied vocational machine shop. He earned distinction for his service in the Korean War.
He and two of his close friends founded Diversified Manufacturing, an engineering company that continues to this day in Lockport.
Mr. Bald was a former fleet captain of the Olcott Yacht Club. In addition to his affinity for sailing, he was an avid runner, woodworker and golfer. He also found pleasure in nature and listening to classical music.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, the former Glorian Belschner; two daughters, Deborah Gallagher and Dr. Susan Marion; two sons, David and Robert; four stepdaughters, Judy Weidenborner, Sharon Basiewicz, Susan Holguin and Dawn Hammond; two stepsons, Larry and Ronald Simons; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton St., Lockport.
