Falls man admits to burglary, enters drug treatment program

LOCKPORT – A man who reportedly stole two laptop computers in a burglary at a home on Linwood Avenue in Niagara Falls pleaded guilty Tuesday and was assigned to the judicial diversion program of court-supervised drug treatment.

Raymond D. Richards Jr., 30, of Walnut Avenue, appeared before Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas to admit to third-degree burglary. He agreed to pay $2,100 in restitution for the April 18 theft.

He faces up to seven years in prison if he washes out of treatment, but if Richards succeeds, his charge will be reduced to a misdemeanor with a probation sentence.
