Dr. Alfred R. Lenzner, 95, retired physician

A memorial service for Dr. Alfred R. Lenzner, a former Army captain and retired physician, will be at 11 a.m. today in The Chapel at Crosspoint, 500 Crosspoint Parkway, Getzville.

Dr. Lenzner died March 23 at Northgate Nursing Home, Wheatfield. He was 95.

Born in Yonkers, he graduated from Riverside High School and attended Cornell University and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, graduating in 1943.

Dr. Lenzner practiced at Buffalo General Hospital, where he headed the Diabetes Clinic for 25 years.

He transferred to Kenmore Mercy Hospital in 1975. From 1953 to 1955, he served as captain in the U.S. Army’s Medical Hospital in Wurzburg, Germany.

Dr. Lenzner retired from active practice in 1999.

His wife of 52 years, Lura Jean Hislop Lenzner, died in 2002.

He is survived by a sister, Ruth Mann; a daughter, Marilyn Williams; a son, Paul; and three grandchildren.
