William R. Corp, food supervisor at First Niagara Center

May 23, 1953 – May 30, 2014

William Randolph Corp, of West Falls, a food and beverage supervisor at First Niagara Center, died Friday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 61.

Born in Houston, he moved to North Buffalo with his family at age 8 and was a graduate of Seneca Vocational High School.

He returned to the Houston area in the 1970s and worked for more than a decade as a purchasing agent for an electrical contracting company.

He came back to Western New York in the late 1980s to join his brother in purchasing and renovating Inn-Cahoots, a tavern on old Glenwood Road in West Falls. He helped operate it from 1990 to 2007.

Mr. Corp began working for Delaware North Sportservice at First Niagara Center in 2008, first as a coat check and uniform room attendant for the employees, then as a supervisor for the 200 Club Level, where he helped manage the food and beverage service to fans in their seats. He continued working until the end of the Sabres season.

A towering figure at 6-foot-3, he was known for his sense of humor and his unusual neckties.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Trisha Cattarin-Corp; a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Catherine and Linda Knapp.

A celebration of his life will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at 3582 S. Benzing Road, Orchard Park.
