Fredonia man found to have switchblade when stopped for no seat belt

MAYVILLE – A 33-year-old Fredonia man was arrested for illegally having a switchblade knife after his car was stopped on Washington Street in the Village of Silver Creek about 8:50 a.m. Monday because he was not using a seat belt.

Chautauqua County sheriff deputies found Robert J. Mangus Jr. also was driving with a suspended driver’s license because of an earlier incident. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth-degree, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and a seat belt violation. He was ordered to return to Silver Creek Village Court for further proceedings in several weeks.
